Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of Caesarean Clinical Care Maps used in a Foundation Hospital on the quality improvement works during the patient care services.
Materials and methods: Three hundred forty-six caesarean clinical care maps filled in a foundation hospital during 2014 were examined. During the evaluation of study data, descriptive statistical methods such as frequency, percentage, and average were used.
Results: Upon the evaluation of findings, it was concluded that the deviations arose from the tests-laboratory results, medication and duration of hospitalization. As a result of multidisciplinary evaluations conducted on the clinical care maps, it was specified that the length of hospitalization might decrease to 2.5 from three days. The second result concluded from the deviations in the Care Map is that patients were not effectively trained. Patient training services were re-planned and arrangements were made for the measurement of training activity. Shortening the duration of hospitalization and training the patients effectively increased the patient satisfaction from 82% to 98%. Furthermore, Clinical Care Map improved cooperation and communication between employees and increased professional satisfaction.
Conclusion: In monthly comparison, more deviation was observed on the second day of preoperation and postoperation period. Furthermore, in annual comparisons, it was observed that deviations increased in all the attempts on the first day of preoperation and second day of postoperation period.
